During the Second World War the U.S. Navy developed its own knife, it was mostly for it’s sailors on sure patrol in combat zones and it’s front line combat frogmen.

The Navy called this knife the Mark 2 U.S. Navy utility knife. It had a handle was made of compressed leather washers, and its blade had a bowie knife style. The length of the Mark II was 7 inches.

Ka Bar the First USMC Knife

The First USMC knife (USMC fighting knives) was patterned after the Mark II. These USMC knives were officially called the fighting utility knife. The Marines who carried them soon adopted the name Ka-Bar for there beloved knives. These USMC knives have been in service ever since 1943.
